Julie Hart ~ Hart Strings
Being married is one thing, but being married to Bret "The Hitman" Hart, a former five-time WWE Champion is another. In Hart Strings, a vibrant, honest and compelling memoir, Julie Hart, the ex-wife of Hart, and mother of his four children, chronicles the ups and downs of balancing a life with a superstar husband in the circus world of professional wrestling.
"It's time to be normal." Julie Hart told Paul Jay in his 1998 documentary Wrestling With Shadows in a candid interview in regard to the wrestling business, her life and family.
Hart Strings chronicles Julie's late teen years and early romance and courtship with Bret, subsequent family life, raising a family of four children with a wrestler husband, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, a global pro wrestling superstar from the late 80's to when he retired in 2000.
"There are two sides to every story," Hart told SLAM! Wrestling in an interview in 2008. "There were many incidents he wrote about that I would like to share my perspective on. The book took me six years to write, it is very dark; I think people will be shocked at a lot of things. I cover a lot of different issues that fans are expecting and some they aren't."
Hart Strings touches on Julie's childhood, early years with Bret, marriage, divorce and their continued presence in each other's lives, through their children and grandchildren, and her growing role as one of the new matriarchs of the ever-expanding Hart family in Calgary. Vivid, detailed, humourous and real, Hart Strings is Julie's life up to now as an individual, wife, mother, sister and friend, told by the one and only Julie Hart - quite arguably, The Hitman's toughest opponent, and greatest ally of all time.
